The Egrets says… February 14, 2013

2USA CA, San DiegoAs I walked up to the apartment yesterday, I notice an egret on the edge of the pond.  It was in an awkward looking pose.  It held that pose for almost a minute, then moved ever so slightly, then in a lightening fast movement, it’s beak went in and out the water, and returning to its standard walking position with a small fish (I think) that it then swallowed.  In Stephen Farmer’s Animal Spirit Guides (a book with over 200 animals, each with 3 sections, the first being messages of brought by witnessing, in person or in meditation, the animal, 2nd when to call on its energies, and 3rd what it means if that animal is one of your power animals), Egret’s 1st listed message is “Patience, patience, patience!  You’ll soon get your reward.”  This experience of viewing the egret in action helped me to understand this message fully.  This was patience and perseverance in action.

We can all learn from the egret.  Sometimes, one must wait for a time, sometimes in a funny looking/feeling pose, before momentary action produces a sought after reward.  Sometimes consistent effort must be applied for sometime before reward is gained.  So, why do we all seem to expect reward to be instantaneous?  We say we don’t, yet our actions speak otherwise.  Why do we give up when only a short period of effort does not produce?

Most “experts” will say this action/inaction is due to our social programming to seek instant gratification.  This rings true when taking TV, video games, fast food, microwaves, the internet, cell phones, cell phones with internet, pornography, cigarettes, and several other modern “conveniences” into account.  Yet, are we robots?  Are we no better than our phones which have been programmed too?  We are thinking, breathing, free will endowed human beings, who have will power and virtues that can overcome any situation, and programming.  We need to take charge of our personal power, and ACT LIKE IT.  It is time to learn from the egret and remember what patience, conscious effort, and perseverance, truly are.

Maybe its time to turn the TV off for a few months, or at least get rid of cable.  Maybe (not maybe, please do) its time to get rid of your microwave and remember that until 30 years ago, we used ovens and stoves to cook and reheat our food.   Maybe its time to get off Facebook, and make a phone call if you want to convey a message or see how someone is doing.  Better yet, spend time together.  Remember real human interaction?  It was proven years and years ago to be quite stimulating and necessary for proper development and mental/emotional well-being.  There are plenty of ways to get off the instant gratification train, yet they will all take CONSCIOUS EFFORT, WILL POWER and PATIENCE, and in turn, will be a great practice in cultivating a greater amount of those 3 things.

Best of all possible results, with consistent application and willingness to make changes, your life will be more satisfying.  Funny thing about instant gratification, it isn’t actually gratifying.  It is like scratching an itch that won’t go away.  Doing things that take effort and patience create lasting and satisfying results that leave one with a sense of confidence and accomplishment.  Which is more inspiring of these?  a) a person who just gets handed or stumbles upon a millions dollars, or b) the person that lives life, pays dues, shows courage and patience, and through intelligent effort achieves great abundance?  Exactly.  The later feels more real and relatable as well.  I’m not saying you have to sweat in coal mine, or toil away 60-80 hours a week.  (Like my grandpa always said, work smart, not hard)  I’m just saying that some part of it is going to take conscious effort, passion, persistence, patiences, compassion, love, and maybe even holding an awkward pose.

If you were handed $100 million tomorrow and told that to enjoy any of that for yourself, you had to help the world in every way you can, helping the world is going to take serious effort.  Sticking with it till results come about, will take serious patience.  You may not even see the  results in your life time, or immediate environment, so its going to take some FAITH too.  The money is the easy part, changing yourself and changing the world is where the real sweat comes in, where you truly prove your metal.  Even if you had to earn the $100 million through some form of work/business, it would still be the easy part.  This world/society is in need of some serious change/healing/growth/revamping/clean-up, and so are most of us.  And its not going to happen over night, or with one beach clean up Saturday.  This going to take a great deal of effort, and TIME, and the patience to wait while things progress and change.

Instant gratification, through its many outlets, is a big factor in what’s destroying the health and well being of individuals and the Earth alike.  Instant gratification will get us no where, just like your microwave dinner has been zapped of all the nutritional value by radiation, or watching Dr. Phil isn’t going to help your social anxiety.  Change and healing start within, and through conscious effort, patience, and persistence.  Am I starting to sound like a broken record?  I sure hope so, its called driving a point home.  Whether a human or the planet, the best, most needed, lasting healing, change, and growth will come through those 3 factors.  Betterment requires daily effort, standards that are adhered to, and constant drive.  It will take the knowledge that it will not happen overnight, or that the desired amount of progress may not be seen for months, or years.  It will take persistence and faith to keep going when attempts fail, recession happens, ego wins out for a moment, or things seem to be at a stand still.  Cast aside judgement, for it will only lead to suffering.  Yet, as the egret showed me, patience and conscious, continuous effort do pay off in full in a very satisfying way.

So, take the egret’s lesson, and start to apply it to your life.  Walk or bike to the store.  Send a card when you’re thinking of someone.  Meditate daily to relieve anxiety instead of popping a pill you really don’t need.  THROW AWAY YOUR MICROWAVE.  In fact, cut the cord off that sucker.  Plant rose bushes this spring so you have flowers to stop and smell in the future.  Watch a sunset, or a sunrise.  Look for ways to practice patience and conscious effort in all areas of life, and make all of life’s rewards taste, smell, appear, sound, and feel that much more sweet and satisfying.  Your soul, and the world will thank you.  Little by little the world will become a better place by the genuine energy we are all putting into our lives by what we do and experience, and through the deep understanding we will all achieve, and pass on to future generations about what it truly takes to create change and produce what truly matters within ourselves and on this planet.

Like the egret, and life on many occasions has shown me, patience and persistence are virtues that are beyond any value measure, and the conscious effort and will power it takes to cultivate and truly understand them makes gold look like nothing more than a cute, shiny metal.

A closing thought:
Imagine and contemplate – how much less trash there would be if we got rid of all fast food, fast casual, and to-go style eatery?  If there were no “disposable” eateries, containers, and such?  or if we stopped producing and buying single serving snacks, candies, and rinks sold at convenience stores?  Or got rid of the convenience stores too?  Was it really “convenient” with all the work its going to take to get rid of that trash when we finally decide to tackle that mountainous chore?  Next time you take your trash out, imagine what could be avoided with some bulk buys, reusable containers, and other conscious efforts?

Mercury Retrograde in 2013… February 9, 2013

mercury_4179_1Being a Virgo (one of the two signs ruled by Mercury, the other being Gemini), this subject is important to me.  Its also important to me because Mercury retrograde effects all life on this planet very strongly.  Mercury being the planet that rules commerce, communication, contracts, and travel (just to name its major influences), its movements and energy play a major role in today’s modern society.

Mercury Retrograde is a time to slow down, and reevaluate.  When it comes to important matters, especially in business and personal relationships, it is a time to wrap things up prior to, or put things on hold until afterwards.  The 2 weeks(-ish) prior, and after, require attention and finesse.  Planning ahead and being flexible is key.  This is a time to keep yourself grounded, centered, and focused.  It can be quit a marvelous time, if one handles their affairs consciously and with an open mind and heart.

I’ve written two other blogs on the subject that go into depth on Mercury Retrograde and its effects.

Mercury Retrograde (MR) happens (usually) three times a year.  Today marks the pre-MR (or the “slow down”) phase for this current cycle.  MR will begin for this phase on Feb 23rd (with the Full Moon on the 25th).  Post-MR starts, or begin movement again, on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day.  It will be back at full speed, and life will resume at its normal fast pace on March 31st, Easter.

The dates for the other two cycles this year are as follows…

pre-MR:  June 10
MR:  June 26
post-MR:  July 21
MD:  August 3

pre-MR:  October 5
MR:  October 21
post-MR:  November 11
MD:  November 26

For a full calendar diagram, go HERE.

This retrograde is in Pisces:

When Mercury is found to be retrograde in Pisces, there would be mental and emotional confusions. Some psychic experiences are also probable. There would be a mix-up of ideas, opinions and passions among people. People tend to become too much spiritual or too much erratic in their behaviour. There would also be a tendency for procrastination and laziness might creep in. Paranormal experiences are usually noted. Stress shall take its toll. Stability and privacy would be needed for a trouble-free environment. Nervous breakdowns are usually reported on a large scale.

There are no hard rules in this universe, yet some general principles to go by are…

Do’s when Mercury is Retrograde

•   Reassert your vows and devotion in your love life or married life. Take time to be along with your      loved one this partner. But do not initiate any new moves.

•   Do take time to mend fences with your partner during this retrograde period. Get rid of past      resentments and try to make amends with him/ her. Reconciliation would work well in this period.

•   Patience need to be exercised when Mercury goes retrograde. In case there had been a previous      break-up with partner now is the time to extend an olive branch.

•   You could rekindle a last flame. Look up for some lost love in your life when Mercury goes      retrograde.

•   You can revisit your ideas of pleasure this time, like your favourite hotspot, your favourite hideout or a     coffee shop you used to frequent with your loved one.

Don’ts when Mercury is Retrograde

•   At any cost make sure you do not get married during Mercury retrograde dates. Because this is the time when promises get broken easily, and thing go awry. Though everything would seem smooth between you and your partner, something creepy might get in, hence maintain caution.
•   Do not pursue a new love route. It would land you in troubled waters. Though it might seem right enough ultimately it would turn into a total failure when Mercury goes direct. You would not get a correct picture of relationships when Mercury is retrograde as things seem blurred.
•   Do not try to break up with your loved one when Mercury is retrograde. Divorce proceedings are to be     strictly avoided and stalled. Else it would be a big strain for you both mentally ,physically, emotionally     and financially.
•   Mercury retrograde is a period when your resolve gets tested. Hence make sure you avoid a     distrusted person who has been trying to get your attention this period.
•   Do not go out on a first date when Mercury is in retrograde motion. Wait till it goes direct to initiate     any moves because you would be caught on the wrong foot if you venture into this unknown territory     when Mercury is retrograde

•   Your financial deals need to be reconsidered and restructured during a Mercury retrograde phase
•   Reassessing and renegotiations of finances can be done.
•   Do take care of any pending old businesses and make sure you complete them beforehand
•   Do look for any potential errors in your financial moves like payments and insurance policies.
•   Garner data related to anything you want to buy or invest in future.
•   Loans plans if any and other payment plans need to be revised.
•   Be prepared with your papers for filing of your taxes.
•   Reorganize your accounting and book keeping systems.
•   Change your beliefs and attitudes towards money and finances for the better is yet to come.

•   Do not initiate any new projects, partnerships or investments. It would certainly result in a loss and also in unwanted delays and frustrations.
•   Do not make any new purchases, else they might turn up to be faulty or damaged or of no use to you.
•   Do not take any loans when Mercury is under Retrograde.
•   Do not file taxes when Mercury is at its worst.
•   Do not gamble, speculate or take any risks with money.

Tata to 2012… Thanks for all the Fish. :-) December 31, 2012

Well, its been quite a year.  Going out with way more than I went in with, and I’m indescribably grateful for it all.

Highlights include, yet certainly not limited to:

  • The amazing energies anchored into Gaia’s systems/bodies, and the progress made towards raising of humanity’s consciousness level and Earth’s dimensional alignment within the cosmos and all creation.  From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU to all who have done their part in the name of Love and Light. 🙂
  • The strengthening and healing of the relationships that are so near and dear to me.  This would include the months I’ve spent living on my brother’s couch and getting to know the “adult” him much better, as well as improved relations with my mother, and my first family Giftmas gathering since 2005.
  • Having plenty of yummy food to eat at all times (this was an issue the second half of last year)
  • Hitting and surpassing the one year “clean and sober” mark
  • My attending of my first educational yoga retreat
  • Taking a month of online training in music production in Ableton with one of my favorite producers, Vespers
  • Attending Bear Creek Music Festival with my brother and best friend, and having an AMAZING time. (Despite the temp the first 2 nights being in the 30’s)  Got to see Umphrey’s McGee 2x, PGroove 2x, Lotus, The Bright Light Social Hour, and lots of new bands that were AWESOME!  Plus, we wore suits at a festival in the woods, which was Legendary. 🙂
  • Starting and writing in this blog (even though 70-80% of it was just reblogs), knowing that it spread information, ideas, feelings, love, and light to many, as well as the wonderful blogs I found along the way that did the same for me.
  • The concerts I attended – Lotus in March, The Bright Light Social Hour in May, Owl City in September, and Perpetual Groove (x2) in Nov/Dec
  • Getting the job I had for most of the year so quickly upon moving here
  • Winning $30 on scratch-off tickets the last 2 days, to go out with some extra cash and good feeling.

I’m so grateful for all this and everything else that has happened during this marvelous year.  Every smile I’ve seen, every musical note I’ve heard, every positive word I’ve read… its all be fantastic.  To top it off, next year will be even better!!!

Love and Light to you all!

Conscious Facts about Vegan Living December 18, 2012

The Truth about Protein

•    Humans were created as herbivores (blunt teeth, no claws), not as carnivores.
•    It is a great misconception that “You need animal protein to be lean and strong” (buffalos, horses, cows, elephants, and even brontosauruses are/were all vegans).
•    Spinach, spirulina, broccoli, bee pollen, hemp, brussel sprouts, almonds, and pecans are all very high in protein and will easily satisfy the body’s protein requirements.
•    Spirulina is 60-65% protein, with complete amino acid content—the highest of any protein source.
•    Protein deficiency is extremely rare, except in areas where people are starving.
•    Meat diminishes physical and sexual performance because arteries and blood vessels get clogged.
•    It is important to get protein without fat and cholesterol.
•    Protein requirements are very easy to meet with plant foods.
•    What smoking does to your lungs, meat does to your arteries. The link between an animal-based diet and heart disease is as strong as the link between smoking and cancer.
•    Cancer and heart disease are most frequent where meat eating prevails.

The Truth about Calcium

•    Broccoli provides more calcium than cow’s milk, and in an absorbable form.
•    The dairy industry spends billions per year advertising the calcium in dairy, yet dairy is not high in absorbable calcium.
•    Calcium deficiency of dietary origin is unknown in the U.S. Nonetheless, the dairy industry claims the U.S. has a calcium deficiency and therefore has to consume more dairy products.
•    The dairy industry sets the calcium requirements for the U.S.D.A.
•    The U.S. is the world’s biggest consumer of calcium, yet has the greatest incidence of osteoporosis.
•    The primary cause of osteoporosis is a lack of weight-bearing exercise (due to sedentary lifestyle) and over-consumption of animal protein—both of which are hallmarks of many Americans’ way of life.

The Truth about Fat and Cholesterol

•    You can get all the “good” fats (omega 3, 6, and 9) you need from green, leafy vegetables and raw seeds.
•    Although fish contains “good fat,” it is packaged with PCB’s, cholesterol, and other toxins. In fact, the good fat in fish comes from the plants (plankton) which the fish eats!
•    Our liver makes all the cholesterol we need. Therefore, the amount we need from our diet is zero.
•    High cholesterol contributes to more deaths than all the wars, natural disasters, and disease epidemics combined.
•    There is no difference between white meat and red meat. A 3-ounce steak has 75 mg of cholesterol, and a 3-ounce skinless chicken breast contains 72 mgs of cholesterol.
•    Seafood is not a healthy alternative to red or white meat! Shrimp have 6 times more cholesterol than beef.
•    3 glasses of milk has the same cholesterol as 20 slices of bacon.
•    Plant-based food has zero cholesterol.

The Truth about Dairy Food

•    Humans are the only animals that drink milk after they are weaned.
•    Because humans have no biological need for milk after they are weaned, at some point the pancreas very naturally stops producing the enzyme lactase (which breaks down lactose), which is why 75% of the global population is falsely classified as “lactose intolerant.”
•    Humans are the only animals on the planet which routinely consume another animal’s milk.
•    Cow’s milk carries the genetic blueprint to produce a ten-fold increase from birth weight in the cow’s first year of life, accounting for the extreme obesity in many children who were fed bovine formula.
•    Bovine (and other) formulas deprive children of their primary source of their immune system—which is naturally, freely, and divinely provided by a mother’s breast milk.

Impact on the Environment

•    Raising animals for food accounts for more than half of all the annual water used in the U.S. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of meat, but only 25 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of wheat. The average American uses 106 gallons of water per day. If that person also eats 1 hamburger, that figure increases to 3,106 gallons.
•    A vegan lifestyle saves 1 million gallons (3,780,000 liters) of water every year!
•    85% of all U.S. agricultural land is used to grow food to feed the animals we eat.
•    260 million acres of land in the U.S. are destroyed each year raising animals for slaughter.
•    Raising animals for food requires more than 1/3 of all raw materials and fossil fuels used in the U.S. Producing a single hamburger patty uses enough fossil fuel to drive a small car 20 miles and enough water for 17 showers.
•    Rainforests (which provide 90% of all our medicines, and countless species of animals going extinct) are being destroyed at a rate of 125,000 square miles per year to provide grazing for animals raised for consumption. For every quarter-pound, fast-food burger made of rainforest beef, 55 square feet (5.1 square meters) of land are consumed.
•    The fishing industry is taking fish out of the ocean much faster than the ocean can reproduce them.
•    15 out of 17 of the world’s fishing zones are now barren, due to the damaging and wasteful methods of fishing currently used.
•    80% of all fish caught through large-scale commercial fishing methods are dumped—dead—back into the sea (including thousands of whales/dolphin/porpoises trapped in those same nets).
•    Of the 20% of all remaining caught fish, half of those are fed to farm animals. Translated:  Only 10% of all the fish caught by large-scale commercial methods end up being consumed by humans!
•    Animal feces are the cause of E. coli bacterial infections. There are hundreds of cases of food poisoning from meat and meat product recalls every year, mostly due to the unsanitary conditions and operations on factory farms (the true causes of which are almost never released to the public by/through the media).
•    The reason why it is necessary to cook meat (particularly chicken) for so long is to kill the bacteria from fecal matter on the meat.
•    The meat industry causes more water pollution in the U.S. than all other industries combined, because the animals raised for food produce 130 times more excrement than the entire human population—86,600 pounds per second.
•    One typical factory pig farm generates the same amount of raw waste as a city of 12,000 people.

Following Our Biorhythms November 7, 2012

exactly. follow the sun and moon, and live by feeling, not by “suppose to”.

Moon cycles, tide changes,
season shifts, bears in
hibernation give us
many examples of how life
exists in rhythms. Before
electricity, people lived
their lives in tune with
the cycles of life, sleeping
and waking with the sun. My
family did this to some extent
on the farm. I have gone back
to this and find a peacefulness
in allowing myself to sleep when
I want, eat when I want rather
than by custom.

I am relearning how to feel
the currents of life, to be
in the flow rather than struggling
against it. We are part of a grand
matrix, not moats floating in the
air spun here and there by the
demands of a life-style that
ignores our core beingness.

Pumpkin is SO delicious!

  • It is one of the very low calorie vegetables. 100 g fruit provides just 26 calories and contains no saturated fats or cholesterol; however, it is rich in dietary fiber, anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins. The vegetable is one of the food items recommended by dieticians in cholesterol controlling and weight reduction programs.
  • Pumpkin is a storehouse of many anti-oxidant vitamins such as vitamin-A, vitamin-C and vitamin-E.
  • With 7384 mg per 100 g, it is one of the vegetables in the Cucurbitaceae family featuring highest levels of vitamin-A, providing about 246% of RDA. Vitamin A is a powerful natural anti-oxidant and is required by the body for maintaining the integrity of skin and mucus membranes. It is also an essential vitamin for good visual sight. Research studies suggest that natural foods rich in vitamin A help a body protects against lung and oral cavity cancers.
  • It is also an excellent source of many natural…

Soaked Almonds October 15, 2012

I eat soaked almonds (almost) everyday. Such a wonderful food. 🙂

Ayurveda recommends to soak and peel your Almonds before you eat them, to make them more easily digestible & nourishing and to increase the life and vitality contained within them. The skin is said to be hard and heat producing.
Research confirms that soaking decreases the amount of phytic acid and thus makes the goodness of Almonds (protein, fiber, omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, and zinc) easier to digest..

How to soak-
~ Place your Almonds (Organic preferred) in a bowl.
~ Pour boiled and cooled water over the Almonds.
~ Cover the bowl
~ Allow to soak overnight.
~ Rinse next morning with fresh water.
~ The skin will be soft & loose. Peel the skin away & enjoy!
Here are some advantages that come from soaking almonds.

Oracles and Healers

I see daily Search terms on my Stats page here from increasing numbers of people searching for information about why they’re feeling inner body vibrations; why they’re smelling smokey burning incense; why they’re having excessive inner heat (hot flashes) in their bodies that radiate outward and so on. I thought it was time to try again to help more people being activated now to better understand what they’re experiencing and why.
