Ayurveda recommends to soak and peel your Almonds before you eat them, to make them more easily digestible & nourishing and to increase the life and vitality contained within them. The skin is said to be hard and heat producing.
Research confirms that soaking decreases the amount of phytic acid and thus makes the goodness of Almonds (protein, fiber, omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, and zinc) easier to digest..
~ Place your Almonds (Organic preferred) in a bowl.
~ Pour boiled and cooled water over the Almonds.
~ Cover the bowl
~ Allow to soak overnight.
~ Rinse next morning with fresh water.
~ The skin will be soft & loose. Peel the skin away & enjoy!
