The Egrets says… February 14, 2013
As I walked up to the apartment yesterday, I notice an egret on the edge of the pond. It was in an awkward looking pose. It held that pose for almost a minute, then moved ever so slightly, then in a lightening fast movement, it’s beak went in and out the water, and returning to its standard walking position with a small fish (I think) that it then swallowed. In Stephen Farmer’s Animal Spirit Guides (a book with over 200 animals, each with 3 sections, the first being messages of brought by witnessing, in person or in meditation, the animal, 2nd when to call on its energies, and 3rd what it means if that animal is one of your power animals), Egret’s 1st listed message is “Patience, patience, patience! You’ll soon get your reward.” This experience of viewing the egret in action helped me to understand this message fully. This was patience and perseverance in action.
We can all learn from the egret. Sometimes, one must wait for a time, sometimes in a funny looking/feeling pose, before momentary action produces a sought after reward. Sometimes consistent effort must be applied for sometime before reward is gained. So, why do we all seem to expect reward to be instantaneous? We say we don’t, yet our actions speak otherwise. Why do we give up when only a short period of effort does not produce?
Most “experts” will say this action/inaction is due to our social programming to seek instant gratification. This rings true when taking TV, video games, fast food, microwaves, the internet, cell phones, cell phones with internet, pornography, cigarettes, and several other modern “conveniences” into account. Yet, are we robots? Are we no better than our phones which have been programmed too? We are thinking, breathing, free will endowed human beings, who have will power and virtues that can overcome any situation, and programming. We need to take charge of our personal power, and ACT LIKE IT. It is time to learn from the egret and remember what patience, conscious effort, and perseverance, truly are.
Maybe its time to turn the TV off for a few months, or at least get rid of cable. Maybe (not maybe, please do) its time to get rid of your microwave and remember that until 30 years ago, we used ovens and stoves to cook and reheat our food. Maybe its time to get off Facebook, and make a phone call if you want to convey a message or see how someone is doing. Better yet, spend time together. Remember real human interaction? It was proven years and years ago to be quite stimulating and necessary for proper development and mental/emotional well-being. There are plenty of ways to get off the instant gratification train, yet they will all take CONSCIOUS EFFORT, WILL POWER and PATIENCE, and in turn, will be a great practice in cultivating a greater amount of those 3 things.
Best of all possible results, with consistent application and willingness to make changes, your life will be more satisfying. Funny thing about instant gratification, it isn’t actually gratifying. It is like scratching an itch that won’t go away. Doing things that take effort and patience create lasting and satisfying results that leave one with a sense of confidence and accomplishment. Which is more inspiring of these? a) a person who just gets handed or stumbles upon a millions dollars, or b) the person that lives life, pays dues, shows courage and patience, and through intelligent effort achieves great abundance? Exactly. The later feels more real and relatable as well. I’m not saying you have to sweat in coal mine, or toil away 60-80 hours a week. (Like my grandpa always said, work smart, not hard) I’m just saying that some part of it is going to take conscious effort, passion, persistence, patiences, compassion, love, and maybe even holding an awkward pose.
If you were handed $100 million tomorrow and told that to enjoy any of that for yourself, you had to help the world in every way you can, helping the world is going to take serious effort. Sticking with it till results come about, will take serious patience. You may not even see the results in your life time, or immediate environment, so its going to take some FAITH too. The money is the easy part, changing yourself and changing the world is where the real sweat comes in, where you truly prove your metal. Even if you had to earn the $100 million through some form of work/business, it would still be the easy part. This world/society is in need of some serious change/healing/growth/revamping/clean-up, and so are most of us. And its not going to happen over night, or with one beach clean up Saturday. This going to take a great deal of effort, and TIME, and the patience to wait while things progress and change.
Instant gratification, through its many outlets, is a big factor in what’s destroying the health and well being of individuals and the Earth alike. Instant gratification will get us no where, just like your microwave dinner has been zapped of all the nutritional value by radiation, or watching Dr. Phil isn’t going to help your social anxiety. Change and healing start within, and through conscious effort, patience, and persistence. Am I starting to sound like a broken record? I sure hope so, its called driving a point home. Whether a human or the planet, the best, most needed, lasting healing, change, and growth will come through those 3 factors. Betterment requires daily effort, standards that are adhered to, and constant drive. It will take the knowledge that it will not happen overnight, or that the desired amount of progress may not be seen for months, or years. It will take persistence and faith to keep going when attempts fail, recession happens, ego wins out for a moment, or things seem to be at a stand still. Cast aside judgement, for it will only lead to suffering. Yet, as the egret showed me, patience and conscious, continuous effort do pay off in full in a very satisfying way.
So, take the egret’s lesson, and start to apply it to your life. Walk or bike to the store. Send a card when you’re thinking of someone. Meditate daily to relieve anxiety instead of popping a pill you really don’t need. THROW AWAY YOUR MICROWAVE. In fact, cut the cord off that sucker. Plant rose bushes this spring so you have flowers to stop and smell in the future. Watch a sunset, or a sunrise. Look for ways to practice patience and conscious effort in all areas of life, and make all of life’s rewards taste, smell, appear, sound, and feel that much more sweet and satisfying. Your soul, and the world will thank you. Little by little the world will become a better place by the genuine energy we are all putting into our lives by what we do and experience, and through the deep understanding we will all achieve, and pass on to future generations about what it truly takes to create change and produce what truly matters within ourselves and on this planet.
Like the egret, and life on many occasions has shown me, patience and persistence are virtues that are beyond any value measure, and the conscious effort and will power it takes to cultivate and truly understand them makes gold look like nothing more than a cute, shiny metal.
A closing thought:
Imagine and contemplate – how much less trash there would be if we got rid of all fast food, fast casual, and to-go style eatery? If there were no “disposable” eateries, containers, and such? or if we stopped producing and buying single serving snacks, candies, and rinks sold at convenience stores? Or got rid of the convenience stores too? Was it really “convenient” with all the work its going to take to get rid of that trash when we finally decide to tackle that mountainous chore? Next time you take your trash out, imagine what could be avoided with some bulk buys, reusable containers, and other conscious efforts?
On Step at a Time, pt.2 February 13, 2013
Growth and healing happen one step at a time. This is not to say there can not be “spurts” and “break throughs”, yet those are usually preceded by a period of dormancy or even recession or decay. So its either gradual steps, or dormancy/decay then burst/break through, which in actuality are “steps”.
Usually though, its one step at a time. A seed is planted, then it sprouts, then leaves and upward growth. Eventually flowers make their appearance, which are pollenated, and thus can create fruit. While some plants will produce in a couple seasons time, most of these dying after one production or harvest season, other plants take 3 to 5 years to produce their first fruits, sometimes taking 7 to 10 years for their full potential to be reached. Some of the best tasting and most nutritious fall into this category.
We must apply this same process and concept to life and its experiences. The more effective, positive, and longest lasting changes, experiences, and healing will sometimes take long periods, even years, to bring about, and even more patience and perseverance to see the full benefits, potential, and lessons (possibly a whole lifetime). This is why we must remain in FAITH and TRUST that everything is working out for the greatest good, and take life one step at a time.
When I had my soul retrieval and akashic records clearing done in October 2011, the healer saw a vision of an acorn planted, then growing into a mighty oak tree. I understood the metaphor at the time, yet did not conceptualize the phases of growth (time elapsed) from acorn to mighty tree. For an Oak to be considered to be considered “adult” it takes 15 to 20 years or more. At an average of 2 feet of growth per year, that means about 40 years or more to reach the size of “mighty” tree the healer saw in her vision (full grown oaks are between 60-100 feet).
Thank goodness that humans have the potential to grow so much faster. Yet, at this time, I am still a “sapling”, working on establishing deep roots, building trunk strength, growing upward and outward. It will be a little longer before the first birds sing on my branches. A bit longer before squirrels climb me to play. A bit longer before I produce my first acorns. Yet, I will eventually be that Mighty Oak. I will enjoy each pahse of grwoth, each step on the path of healing, being present, being at peace with being the best me I can be.
As you can see, things are beginning to break loose now. They will continue to pick up steam and, as we have told you for quite some time, will become quick enough to have you in a state of disbelief.
There will be people all around you who are unable to process what they are seeing and who will retreat into total denial. You need not spend your energies convincing anyone of anything, dear ones. Events and truth will take care of that. But understand that they will be in dire need of ears who listen, if not agree, as their seemingly entire worlds fall to pieces around them. Be not smug in your knowing. Find in yourself any tendencies to even think or feel “I told you so.”
Compassion for those who are cut loose from their moorings is what will be most needed now. Millions have known only what they have been spoon fed all their lives. They have been told that lies are truth and truths were lies. They will be hurt. They will be angry. They will want to vent their anger and frustration. Be there for them.
When they have calmed down somewhat, they will have questions. Even then, the wisest course will be to answer the questions and let them proceed at their own pace to the next question. There is no need to lecture or teach. Events will take care of that soon enough. Very quickly millions of doubters will become seekers.
At this time, while things are still in the simmering stage, continue to seek yourselves. Ah… we like that. Continue to seek your Selves. You will need that connection as never before, but also, you have never had so great an opportunity to create that connection.
If you still do not have a regular daily practice of meditation, we urge you to establish one. Learn to center yourself. Learn to ground yourself. Learn to spend time in your heartspace. Find your Source, your Creator, your I AM. You need no one else to do that, dear friends. You need only your own sincere intent and effort. We promise you that you will be met with open arms long before you get halfway. Find the peace in which your true heart resides. It will be important to you.
Seek the possible best outcome in every new turn of events now and watch as your prayers come to fruition.
In the unconditional love and light of Source, we bid you good day.

One Step at a Time, or OSaaT, has been a real focus of mine, as of late. Its real easy to get out of the “now” and get all anxious with anticipation and worry of the future. That’s why when I’ve found myself getting worked up lately, I’ve written “OSaaT” on my wrist. It reminds me that growth, healing, manifestation, and life happen in steps, as a continual progressive process. Each day, each step, usually not much different than the last, comparatively.
Sometimes, there are jumps, where one phase ends, and another beings, marked with a large amount of change, yet these times are more “unique” or “rare” than the bulk of experienced moments/circumstances. Even when these times of change are known to be coming, one must live day by day, hour by hour, until the moment that has been divinely blessed for action is at hand. The best actions and outcomes come about by handling situations and things in their proper moment. Anticipation only bring stress and suffering. Planning is not anticipation, as long as one lets go as soon as feeling, decision, and intention are set.
Truly, anyone can know the Divine plan by tuning into their heart and God. However, the only constant is change… nothing is set in stone. There are 7+ billion incarnated souls, along with God, the Archangels and Angels, Master, and Elohim, making changes, revisions, and new addendums to the Divine plan with every thought, action, inaction, desire, bout of laziness, and epiphany. All that can truly be done is to make decisions about what one wants, set intentions and a loose paln of action, pray to God and the “God force” for help and guidance, then LET GO, and live in a state of unattached expectation, Faith, and TRUST. Patience and persistence are your two best friends in living while the Divine plan unfolds. Even when you KNOW something is destiny, there lies the issue of Earth time vs Divine timing. Not even the Angels truly know how these two correlate since there are an unfathomable amount of variables involved.
So… OSaaT. Find the amazingness of each moment with Faith and Trust that what you desire is on its way, and may very well be, just around the bend, or coming into your life with the change of the season. 😉
